Jilin City beat Russian Chemists 4-2 in VHL

JILIN, China, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- China's Jilin City ice hockey team beat the Russian Chemists 4-2 in the 18th round of the Supreme Hockey League (VHL) here on Thursday.

After beating the Russian Stat last round, Jilin continues to be in good shape as Alexei Mitrofanov scored the opener for Jilin City after 1:36 minutes.

Russian Chemists usurped the lead with a pair of goals before Jilin chipped in three in row for the victory.

"Thanks for the players' hardworking. They studied hard on tactics before the game. We didn't lose our confidence when we were trailing," said Jilin's Russian coach Akifiyev Aleks.

Jilin City will play an road game against Heilongjiang Kunlun Hongxing on November 2. Jilin and Heilongjiang are the only two Chinese teams competing in the second highest level league of Russian ice hockey.
