CHENGDU, China, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- Chinese tennis player Wu Yibing defeated Marko Miladinovic of Serbia 6-4, 6-3 in the first round of the 2017 ITF Junior Masters here on Wednesday.
Wu scooped both the junior boys' singles and doubles titles at the US Open this year. The junior world No. 1 is well-known as the hope of the Chinese men's tennis.
Facing Serbian player Marko Miladinovic, the top seed was affected by his cold and lost the first nine points in a row. "I didn't expect to cough so bad, then I had to calm down and relax," Wu said.
Wu fought back with his excellent serve, closing out a 6-4 opening set. Then he maintained his advantage and didn't give any chance to his opponent with a 6-3 second set.
"I'm very happy but it was tough to start like this," Wu said. "I have to improve my serve and baseline ball in the future."
