ABUJA, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- Nigerian troops have killed 11 fighters of the terror group Boko Haram in an operation aimed at routing the terrorists from their stronghold in the country's northeastern state of Borno, the army said Wednesday.

Nigerian army spokesman Sani Usman told Xinhua the troops also destroyed a bomb-making factory operated by the terrorists in Ngala local area of Borno in the same operation on Tuesday.

A gun truck, four suicide bomb vests and various improvised explosive devices were among the arms and ammunition recovered from the terrorists, Usman added.

Nigeria has made a considerable gain on the Boko Haram front, with its security forces having dislodged Boko Haram fighters from the Sambisa Forest, the group's largest training camp in the country.

Boko Haram has been blamed for the deaths of more than 20,000 people and displacing of 2.3 million others in Nigeria since 2009.
