Cambodian PM to attend cremation ceremony of late Thai King

PHNOM PENH, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen will attend the royal cremation of late Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej, to be held Thursday in Bangkok, according to a Cambodian foreign ministry statement on Tuesday.

The prime minister will be accompanied by Defense Minister Gen. Tea Banh and other members of the government, the statement said.

"Samdech Techo Prime Minister's participation in this ceremony is to express heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the Royal Family, the Government and the people of Thailand as well as to pay last tribute to the late King of Thailand," it said.

Bhumibol Adulyadej, the longest reigning monarch in the world, passed away on Oct. 13, 2016 at the age of 88 after a long illness.
