RABAT, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- Morocco's largest telecommunications operator's revenues fell by 2.5 percent to 2.75 billion U.S. dollars during the first nine months of 2017, the company said on Monday.

Maroc Telecom attributed the decline to the country's liberalization of IP telephony in November 2016 and the decrease in mobile termination rates in Morocco and African subsidiaries.

However, the company's customer base amounted to over 56 million by the end of September, an year-on-year increase of 7.7 percent, driven by an expansion in the mobile customer bases in foreign countries, as well as by the sustained growth of the mobile and fixed broadband customer bases in Morocco, it underlined.

Maroc Telecom, controlled by the United Arab Emirates' Etisalat Group, serves more than 55 million users in 10 African countries.
