MEXICO CITY, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- Over a month away from the 7.1-magnitude quake which rocked Mexico City on Sep. 19, only five people remain injured in hospital, mayor Miguel Angel Mancera said here on Saturday.

In a press conference, he said these were people who suffered severe fractures and remained in hospital to avoid any health complications, with none of them in a serious condition.

The earthquake killed 369 people, including 228 in the capital and 141 in five other states, and injured around 800 more, flooding local hospitals.

Mancera also added that 12 temporary shelters remained open to attend to those who lost their homes, due to buildings being destroyed or damaged, in the quake.

These shelters have attended to more than 44,300 displaced people since the quake, with only 333 people remaining there.

Furthermore, local authorities have verified 19,619 buildings to determine if they had suffered any possible damage, with repairs ongoing at 2,380 buildings.

The estimated cost of the earthquake to Mexico City stands at approximately 1.5 billion pesos (78.9 million U.S. dollars), including public services and assistance to the displaced.

"This is more or less what has been committed until now," added Mancera.
