KABUL, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- The Afghan security forces have detained 11 people for alleged drug-related crimes within a week, authorities said Wednesday.

"Afghan security forces and the Counter-Narcotics Police of Afghanistan (CNPA) have cracked 12 drug cases and captured 11 persons involved in the cases in Kabul, Paktika, Nangarhar, Kapisa, Panjshir and Kunar provinces within the last one week," the Counter-Narcotics Criminal Justice Task Force of Afghanistan (CJTF) said.

Among the arrestees was one woman, it said in a statement.

The CNPA also seized 19 kg of heroin, 89 kg of opium and 533 kg of hashish, the statement said, adding that the CNPA also seized seven vehicles and 11 mobile phones from the arrested.

"A total of 700 U.S. dollars and 130,600 Pakistani rupees (about 1,250 U.S. dollars) as well as 30 bullets and a telecommunication radio were also confiscated from the arrestees," the statement noted.

Following initial investigations, the CNPA has handed over the cases to the Central Narcotics Tribunal (CNT), a special Afghan court for jurisdiction of major drug cases.
