LUSAKA, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- The following are news highlights in Zambia's major media outlets on Wednesday.

-- The Zambian government has made strides in the implementation process of an e-government system aimed at improving service delivery.

Secretary to the Treasury Roland Msiska said the government was spending 9 million U.S. dollars on the implementation process of the electronic management system, dubbed "e-Cabinet system," which was expected to be completed in December. (Times of Zambia)

-- The Zambian government has been urged to accelerate geological mapping programs in the country as this will lead to discovery of other mineral deposits to drive investment in the mining sector.

Herryman Moono, secretary of the Economics Association of Zambia (EAZ), an association for economists, said discovering more mineral deposits will enhance the mining sector's competitiveness. (Zambia Daily Mail)

-- Zambian President Edgar Lungu has called for forgiveness and unity among citizens, saying unity was vital for the country's development.
