NEW DELHI, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- A fire broke out at Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's office in the national capital Tuesday morning, officials said.
There have been no reports of any casualty in the incident as the office in South Block on Raisina Hills was not open when the inferno started.
And the Indian prime minister is currently in his homestate of Gujarat, campaigning for the upcoming assembly polls in the western state, ruled by his Bharatiya Janata Party.
"We got a call in our control room that a fire broke out in the prime minister's office room No. 242. Fire tenders were immediately sent," local fire officer Gurmukh Singh told the media.
Room No. 242 belonged to a section officer of the prime minister's office.
The fire was contained within 20 minutes. "However, some electrical appliances like air-conditioners and office records were destroyed in the fire," another fire official said.
A probe has been ordered into the incident. "Prima facie, it seemed that the fire occurred due to a short-circuit," Singh said.
