TRIPOLI, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- Libya's eastern-based army closed the seaport of the eastern city of Tubruq for security reasons, an army source told Xinhua on Sunday.
"The General Command of the army has issued orders to close the port of Tubruq over detected smuggling of drugs and fuel, as well as smuggling of raw materials, such as iron and copper," the source said.
The source pointed out that the port did not meet standards of occupational safety, and that security violations were recorded.
The army changed the route of international commercial ships of the port to Benghazi's port until further notice.
Tubruq port is controlled by the eastern-based interim government allied with the armed forces.
