PARIS, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- Belgian defender Thomas Meunier shone with a brace and clinched three points for Paris Saint-Germain after winning at Dijon 2-1 on Saturday, moving six points clear of defending champions Monaco to lead Ligue 1 standings.

Meunier stole the show with a pair of goals just from two shots for PSG, who were without their Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani and several other key players following midweek's World Cup qualifiers.

The visitors were held to a goalless first half, only to see their best chance to break the deadlock came from a free-kick from Brazilian veteran Dani Alves that hit the crossbar.

Another Brazilian player Marquinhos also found his header denied by the crossbar in the second half, and teenage sensation Kylian Mbappe was frustrated several times by Dijon goalkeeper Baptiste Reynet.

It was Meunier that stood up for the Ligue 1 leaders on 70 minutes, when he was on the position to beat Reynet after the latter blocked world record signing Neymar's shot.

Drama arrived in the final five minutes. Benjamin Jeannot could have earned Dijon a point with his spectacular volley outside the box in the 87th minute, before that was cancelled by Meunier's shot set up by Mbappe from the left flank.

Following Monaco's 3-2 loss to Lyon, PSG saw their advantage widened to six points on the top position.

Amiens, whose home stadium saw fans stand barrier collapse last round, fell short 1-0 to Toulouse. Amiens' next home match on October 21 will be played in northern France's Le Havre.

Lille, the other team affected by the incident, finished in a 2-2 tie with Troyes.

Also on Saturday, Caen lost to Angers 2-0, Guingamp overcame Rennes 2-0, and Saint-Etienne got past bottom sides Metz 3-1.
