TEHRAN, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Armed Forces are determined to promote the country's defensive power more vigorously, Deputy Chief of Staff of Iran's Armed Forces Brigadier General Massoud Jazayeri said Saturday.

Iran will spare no effort in supporting oppressed people especially those in western Asia and even inside the United States, Jazayeri was quoted as saying by official IRNA news agency.

He went on to say that Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) will disturb the U.S. leaders' dreams of causing disruption in Iran's defense program.

The commander's remarks was an allusion to the U.S. President Donald Trump's aggressive remarks over Tehran's ballistic missile program on Friday.

On Friday, Trump said he would ask Congress to establish "trigger points," which could prompt the United States to reimpose sanctions on Iran over a series of issues, including Iran's continued ballistic missile launches.

In response, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani Friday said that his country is "more determined" to continue its ballistic missile program.

"Our missile is for defense. We have always been serious over defensive issues, and from now on, we will double our efforts for that end," he stressed.
