BRUSSELS, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- Police of France and Germany have jointly dismantled an organized crime group involved in the illegal smuggling of Indian nationals into Europe, the European Police Office (Europol) said in a press release Friday.

As a result of this joint operation, with the support of Europol, six suspects were arrested in France and eight in Germany.

The investigations revealed that the organized crime group used a travel agency in order to arrange for the migrants' departure to Europe.

The group forged documents and supplied visas to migrants from India. The price varied from 7,000 euros (8,300 U.S. dollars) for one person to 25,000 euros for a family.

The migrants were arranged to travel to the suburbs of Paris and were transported to eastern Germany, where they were forced to work for very low pay. (1 euro = 1.18 U.S. dollars)
