JAKARTA, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- The government of Indonesia has sent a proposal for addition of 11 gold events in the 18th Asian Games to the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), a minister said here on Friday.

Indonesian Youth and Sport Minister Imam Nahrawi disclosed that the proposed events in the regional sport event next year in the country are in the sports of archery, taekwondo and rock climbing.

"I have sent a letter to OCA. I asked the committee (INASGOG) of the event to escort the proposal," Minister Nahrawi said.

Indonesia will host the Asian Games with a total of 40 sports next year in the country's capital and Palembang city of South Sumatra province from August 18 to September 2.

Over 11,000 athletes and officials from 45 nations and regions would take part in the Asian Games, according to the committee.
