RAMALLAH, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- Palestine on Wednesday condemned Israel's decision to build new settlement units in the West Bank as "dangerous escalation."
"The decision of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to build thousands of settlements units in the West Bank means that we will be released from any obligations we have presented to U.S. or international organizations," Palestinian Foreign Minister Riad Malki said in a statement to the official Voice of Palestine radio.
Malki said the Israel's move to approve new settlement units is "a declaration of war" against the two-state solution.
He demanded the United States "take its responsibility towards this step," adding that the Palestinian side cannot stand idle before this dangerous escalation by Netanyahu who is trying to win an internal Israeli competition at the expense of Palestinians.
Malki also said that the Palestinian leadership will "knock all doors to confront the schemes including the International Criminal Court."
The Israeli government on Tuesday approved the construction of 3,829 new settlement units in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
