HERAT, Afghanistan, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- Afghan security forces during a special operation have killed two notorious commanders of Taliban outfit in the western Herat province, the government military said Wednesday.

"Acting upon intelligence report the Special Forces of the National Army conducted a special operation on Tuesday evening in Siashan village of Gazara district killing Taliban notorious commanders Mullah Najib and Mullah Azam on the spot," commander of 207 Zafar Corps in the western region General Mohammad Nasir Hadayat said.

Two more militants were also killed in the operations, he added.

Both the killed commanders were notorious for attacking government interests including the Herat airport and their murder would prove major setback to the Taliban fighters in Herat and the whole western region of the conflict-hit country.

Taliban militants are yet to make comment on the subject.
