BERLIN, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- Tennis legend Boris Becker has rejected an offer to join the popular British TV show "I'm a celebrity...Get me out of here!".

According to the lawyer of the bankrupt former Wimbledon champion, he has "of course" turned down the offer.

Earlier media reports had claimed that Becker's consultants had approached the TV station ITV and were already at the point of negotiating a fee for Becker's engagement.

According to media reports from last week, the German Ex-athlete faces demands for the repayment of 61 million euros in debt. Becker was declared bankrupt by a London court three months ago.

The tennis star's lawyer denied the figure cited above, however, noting that it was based solely on the assessment of debtors rather than that of an independent judicial authority.

Becker recently denied that he was about to auction off his Wimbledon trophies, the first of which he won at the age of 17.
