ISTANBUL, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- Leading Turkish volleyball team Vakifbank marked the opening session of 2017-2018 season at its sport complex on Monday, aiming to clinch all champions in Europe and Turkey.
Vakifbank head coach Guivanni Guidetti thanked the club to give him the best players and coach team he wants and expressed his ambition to crown all trophies in the new season.
"For sure this year we are not only to do good in Europe, but also good in Turkey." The Italian noted.
Vakifbank won 2017 CEV Europran Championship and World Club Championshion, but lost the semifinals of Turkish women league last season.
Meanwhile the 45-year-old promised to give young players more chances to play, as two Turkish players Tugba Senoglu and Zehre Gunes, and American outside hitter Kelsey Robinson joined the team this season.
"We will have one match in every 3 days, which means we can't use the same players in 2 games. And I have the best 14 players now," he added.
Zhu Ting, captain of Team China, extended her contract with Vakifbank this season, and said she can learn a lot from good players and coaches in Turkey.
Vakifbank will play its first game of the new season on Oct. 15 in Ankara against another team Fenerbahce at Turkish Super Cup. Enditem
