VIENNA, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) -- Austrian Interior Minister Wolfgang Sobotka Saturday expressed his intent to speed up the deportations of denied asylum seekers consistently, as new laws come into effect on Nov. 1.

In a press release, Sobotoka said the changes to the law concerning foreign nationals means rejected asylum seekers who refuse to leave the country of their own accord will face denial of basic care as well as restrictions to their area of movement.

In addition, authorities will be able to detain individuals until their departure from Austria.

"We have the situation in many cases that illegitimate asylum seekers ignore our authorities despite not having a right to stay, and make no arrangements to leave Austria," he said in the statement.

"As of the beginning of November we will no longer accept that, and will use all available means to quickly see about conducting even more deportations," asserted the minister.

He added that the lack of future perspectives due to denial of permanent stay as well as the opportunity to earn money via illegal activities leads many such individuals to a path of criminality, including in drug dealing.

Staying in Austria illegally is also no trivial offence, said the minister.
