KABUL, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) -- About 17 insurgents have been killed and 10 others wounded after Afghan air force conducted an airstrike in southern province of Uruzgan, the Interior Ministry said Saturday.
"The Afghan air force targeted militants' hideouts in Barakzai region, Chora district, Uruzgan province on Friday, killing 17 militants and injuring 10 others," the ministry said in a statement
Amount of Taliban's weapons and ammunition were also destroyed following the airstrike in the restive province.
Taliban militants fighting Afghan government forces did not make comments yet.
Last week, the Taliban attacked several security checkpoints in in the same district, killing more than 20 soldiers.
