YANGON, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar launched its first ever water bus services in Yangon on Friday as a new transportation system aimed at easing traffic congestion problem in the region.

Inaugurated by Yangon Region Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein, the water bus service to be operated by a private company with an investment of 37 billion kyats (22 million U.S. dollars) will formally start running on Saturday.

CCTVs, GPS Monitoring System and card payment system have been installed in the water buses which will stop at seven ports in Yangon.

Based on the types of vehicles, the water buses will carry 100 to 200 passengers per trip.
