TAIPEI, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- Taiwan's Consumer Price Index (CPI) grew by 0.5 percent year on year in September, the lowest in five months, the island's statistics agency said Friday.
The agency attributed the rise mainly to price increases in aquatic products, meat, dairy products as well as gas and medical services.
However, vegetable, eggs, fruit, telecom fee and consumer electronics saw price drops compared with last September.
The core CPI, which excludes vegetables, fruit and energy, saw a year-on-year rise of 0.82 percent, the agency said, while the Wholesale Price Index (WPI), rose 1.62 percent from a year earlier.
For the first nine months of the year, the CPI was up 0.69 percent year on year and the WPI increased by 0.77 percent.
