TOKYO, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks advanced Friday morning as investor sentiment was bolstered by a solid showing on Wall Street overnight which itself was buoyed by hopes for a new budget and tax cuts and upbeat trade data.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 50.62 points, or 0.25 percent, from Thursday to 20,679.18.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 3.83 points, or 0.23 percent, at 1,686.32.
Bank, insurance and nonferrous metal-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
