TIRANA, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- All the small businesses operating in Albania will be included in the Value Added Tax (VAT), Albanian finance ministry said Thursday.

According to official sources, such measure is undertaken in the framework of the anti-informality operation which was launched over two years ago.

"This new chapter of the fight against informality has just begun in order to lead an uncompromising battle, but in function of the fight against informality, and I want to emphasize that we will include all subjects, even small ones, in the VAT regime," the ministry said in a press release.

The ministry said that the inclusion of small businesses in the VAT regime would also serve the fight against tax evasion of large businesses and would eliminate any form of unfair competition.

Earlier, Prime Minister Edi Rama told reporters that although the small businesses were included in the VAT scheme, taxes wouldn't increase. Enditem
