HO CHI MINH CITY, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- The 2017 Vietnam International Woodworking Industry Fair (VietnamWood) will be held here on Oct. 18-21, with the participation of over 320 firms from about 25 countries and regions.

Wood processing machine and equipment suppliers from such countries as China, Germany, Sweden, the United States and Canada will showcase their latest products and technologies at VietnamWood, the four-day event's organizers said Thursday.

Vietnam reaped over 5.5 billion U.S. dollars from exporting wood and wood-based products, mainly to the United States, Japan, China and the European Union, in the first nine months of this year, up 11 percent, said the Wood & Forest Products Association of Vietnam.

Vietnam currently has some 4,000 wood processing facilities, mainly in the southern region, of which 15 percent are foreign-invested, the association said, noting that most of foreign investors are from China, South Korea, Britain and Japan.
