MANILA, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has signed an order on creating a presidential body to investigate graft and corruption in the government, a government statement announced on Thursday.
In a statement, the Malacanang presidential palace said Duterte signed the Executive Order No. 43 on Wednesday creating the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) tasked with looking into corruption charges involving all presidential appointees in the executive branch.
Duterte, who assumed presidency in June last year, vowed to stamp out corruption and crime during his six-year term.
Created under the office of the president, the statement said the PACC will be composed of a chairman and four commissioners to be appointed by the president, the majority of whom must be lawyers and have been practicing law for at least five years.
It said the PACC will also have a secretariat to be headed by an executive director, who will provide technical and administrative support to the commission. The personnel of the secretariat will be appointed by the PACC chairman.
