RAMALLAH, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said on Wednesday that he will make all possible efforts to end the Palestinian internal division, the Palestinian official news agency WAFA reported.

Abbas made the remarks in his meeting with Norway's Middle East peace envoy Tor Vinslad at the presidential headquarters in West Bank city of Ramallah.

"Enabling the national unity government to perform its work in Gaza Strip and dissolving the administrative committee Hamas movement appointed have contributed to positive atmosphere for the national reconciliation that we are walking toward step by step," he said.

He also voiced appreciation for the role Norway has played in coordinating donations for the Palestinian state building and boosting its economy.

Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah led a high-ranking delegation of the national unity government to the Gaza Strip two days ago to end the internal Palestinian division since 2007, when the Islamic Hamas movement violently seized control of the coastal enclave, after weeks of fighting against Abbas' security forces.
