JAKARTA, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- The international football governing body, FIFA, has hiked rank of Indonesia's national football team following the performance of the team in the recent SEA Games in Malaysia, local media reported here on Wednesday.
FIFA rose the rank of the country's soccer team by 6 places to 169 at mid of September, Tempo media said.
However, the increased rank is still below the ranks of other ASEAN peers.
Malaysia, Singapore, Myanmar and Thailand are respectively at ranks of 166, 162, 152 and 137.
Indonesia has attempted to boost capability and skill of football players by picking up a qualified coach and conducting tryout matches, following the sanction of the international governing body.
