MADRID, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- The Spanish High Court on Wednesday cited the chief of the Catalan regional police force for alleged sedition.

Josep Lluis Trapero, head of the Catalan police, has been called to testify on Friday. Anyone found guilty of could face between four to eight years in jail, or 10 years if they are considered to have organized the event.

Lluis's police force are accused of being late to give assistance to the Civil Guards when the national police force were in clash with the pro-Catalan Independence crowd on Sept. 20.

The Catalan force is also accused of not protecting the vehicles which had weapons inside and which if used by the protestors, "could have meant an important raise in the threat level."
