TOKYO, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- The benchmark Nikkei stock index opened marginally higher Wednesday, tracking gains on Wall Street overnight that saw three indexes finish at record highs.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 30.32 points, or 0.15 percent, from Tuesday to 20,644.39.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, shed 0.68 point, or 0.04 percent, to 1,683.78.
Iron and steel, insurance, and nonferrous metal-related stocks comprised those that advanced the most in early trade.
