RIO DE JANEIRO, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- A federal judge overseeing a massive corruption probe said on Tuesday that the case was reaching its end as "anti-corruption movements" in Brazil have found new ways to operate.

Judge Sergio Moro, who oversees Operation Lava Jato (Car Wash) into the Petrobras corruption ring, said "I think we are reaching the final phase."

"In Curitiba (the southern city where the case is based), the Petrobras contracts and the people who benefited from them are here. These people have already been charged and I think we are reaching the final phase," he said in Sao Paulo.

Moro did not specify a date for the Car Wash investigation to end, saying that "a good part of the work has been done, but that does not mean there is not more work."

However, the judge denied that he would be passing on responsibility to another judge. "I am tired, it has been hard work, but there is no concrete plan to transfer (the investigation) to another court," Moro said.

The Petrobras case began in March 2014 after discovering a massive corruption ring in which construction companies colluded with officials at the national oil company Petrobras over the awarding of the inflated contracts.

Over 100 Brazilian politicians have been charged, including current President Michel Temer and former President, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
