HERAT, Afghanistan, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- Up to 600 Afghan youths after completion of a nine-week military training course in the western province of Herat commissioned to the national army, said General Mohammad Naser Hedayat, commander of 207 Zafar Corps in the western region of the war-torn country, on Tuesday.
The newly graduated army personnel would be deployed elsewhere in the western region to bolster the war on the ongoing insurgency, the official said.
Afghan government has been encouraging youth to join the security and defense forces to strengthen the war against Taliban and like-minded groups in the insurgency-battered Afghanistan.
