TOKYO, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks made gains Tuesday morning, with the Nikkei index hitting a two-year intraday high, as investors sentiment was lifted by solid U.S. manufacturing data sending Wall Street higher overnight.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 157.45 points, or 0.77 percent, from Monday to 20,558.23, marking its highest intraday level since Aug. 18, 2015.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 7.52 points, or 0.45 percent, at 1,681.14.

Real estate, pharmaceutical and electric appliance-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
