Myanmar state counselor to visit Brunei

YANGON, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi will pay a visit to Brunei Darussalam soon to attend the Golden Jubilee celebration of King Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah's accession to the throne in Bandar Seri Begawan, said an official announcement on Tuesday.

King Sultan Haji visited Myanmar in March 2014 during the previous U Thein Sein's government tenure.

The two countries are cooperating in energy and agriculture sectors.

To strengthen their existing friendly relations in all fields and simplify the procedures and facilitating the travel of citizens between the two countries, Myanmar and Brunei mutually exempted visa for ordinary passport holders of the two countries in October 2014.

Myanmar and Brunei established diplomatic ties in 1993 and both countries are members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
