NEW DELHI, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- A major fire broke out at a passenger bus depot in the western Indian state of Goa on Monday, police said.
"The blaze started at the state-run Kadamaba Transport Corporation's bus depot in capital Panaji. The depot building, which houses a supermarket on ground floor and the corporation's office on the first floor, have been engulfed in the fire," a senior police official said.
However, there have been no reports of any casualty in the incident so far as there was not much footfall in the bus depot and the supermarket, with Monday being a national holiday.
Some 10 fire tenders have been pressed into service to douse the flames. "Firefighters have been trying their best to contain the flames. They are also looking for anyone trapped inside the depot building. Not a single bus has been damaged in the incident," the official said.
Kadamaba Transport Corporation's head Derrick Pereira that it was the supermarket that first caught fire which then spread to other parts of the depot. "Short-circuit seems to have caused the fire," he added.
A probe has been ordered into the incident, the police official said.
