SOFIA, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- The dairy industry fair titled "Bulgaria's Milky Way through the Centuries" kicked off in the small town of Lukovit on Friday.
Over 50 companies from across the country are participating in the three-day event that aims to promote national age-old traditions and modern technologies related to the processing, consumption, sale and storage of milk and dairy products.
The residents and guests of the town, which is located some located some 115 km northeast of Sofia, can buy or taste hundreds of kinds of milk, yoghurt, cheese and yellow cheese.
Milk processing equipment and hygienic microbiological control systems are exhibited in the event, organized by the Association of Dairy Processors in Bulgaria and the Municipality of Lukovit.
Bulgarian Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry Rumen Porodzanov said at the opening ceremony that Bulgarian cheese, milk and yellow cheese are among the most delicious in the world.
His ministry would in the future support agriculture and dairy sector so as to ensure security and stability for producers, he added.
