ABUJA, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- World football governing body FIFA has appointed a Botswanian national to adjudicate in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying match between Nigeria and Zambia on Oct. 7.
The 39-year-old Botswanian Joshua Bondo will be assisted by two of his countrymen in the match slated for the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State in Nigeria's southeast region.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Nigeria Football Federation acknowledged the appointment, saying the administrative body was working to ensure a hitch-free match.
It is a clash that will see Zambia, winner of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations, and Nigeria, champion of the 2013 edition come face-to-face in a match of huge significance.
With a minimum win in Uyo, Nigeria, three-time African champions, will seal a sixth FIFA World Cup appearance.
