SKOPJE, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- Macedonian state police said Tuesday that the mayor of Pustec, southwest Macedonia, Edmond Temelko, was arrested over office abuse charges.

According to the Macedonian interior ministry, Temelko was handcuffed by Skopje police forces after an international arrest warrant was issued for him.

The Special Prosecution Office (SPO) brought criminal charges against Temelko, political leader of the ethnic Macedonians in Albania, for electoral fraud during the 2013 municipal poll in Macedonia.

Meanwhile, the ministry also said that the Criminal Court accepted the SPO motion and ruled a 30-day detention for Temelko.
