ISTANBUL, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- Istanbul Governor Vasip Sahin pledged Monday evening to make every effort to promote the Turkey-China relations in all fields in the years to come.
Addressing a reception marking the 68th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, Sahin praised the key role played by Istanbul, Turkey's financial and cultural center, in promoting economic and cultural ties between the two countries.
Referring to the Turkey-China friendly relations turning stronger for the moment, the governor spoke highly of the contributions made by Turkish and Chinese businesses to developing economic, social and cultural ties between the two countries.
"In this sense, we think the partnership built between Chinese and Turkish businesses is set to expedite the development of bilateral relations," Sahin said.
Qian Bo, the Chinese consul general in Istanbul, spoke of the remarkable achievements made by China and witnessed by the whole world over the past 68 years, marked by its ascent to be the world's second largest economy and the biggest manufacturing and trade power, and by the significant improvement of Chinese people's living standard.
Qian also praised the advancement in bilateral ties between China and Turkey in terms of politics, business and cultural exchanges in recent years.
In his view, China and Turkey share many common grounds, as they are both important emerging markets with ancient civilizations and dynamic economic vitality, and are in a critical period of integrating each other's development strategies to take advantage of the precious opportunities for development.
"China is willing to work with Turkey to consolidate political mutual trust, promote the spirit of Silk Road, explore new cooperation potential in the process of jointly pushing forward the Belt and Road Initiative, expand the scope of new cooperation, and achieve mutual benefit and development," Qian added.
