HAVANA, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- The 13th Havana Art Biennial scheduled for November 2018 was postponed by a year due to the damage left by Hurricane Irma, a release from the organizing committee said on Monday.
The statement from the curators at the Wifredo Lam Art Centre in charge of preparing the event together with the Culture Ministry stressed that the hurricane damaged 287 important cultural institutions throughout the country, with the worst impact on the central provinces and the west, including Havana.
"It will be necessary to readjust several planned events, including the Biennial," the statement said.
Initiated in 1984, Havana Biennial aims to promote the contemporary work by artists from Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
