LONDON, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- London police said Monday that a young man had been arrested in Cardiff in connection with the terror attack at Parsons Green subway station here.

This brought the total number of arrests to seven since the Sept. 15 terrorist explosion.

The 20-year-old man was arrested at around 6:00 a.m. local time (0500 GMT) and taken to a south London police station where he is being held in custody.

The man is the seventh person to be arrested by the Metropolitan Police's counter-terrorism force over the failed bomb attack on a packed rush-hour carriage at the subway station.

One person has been charged in relation to the attack, three people remain in police custody and three others have been released.

The Islamic State claimed responsibility for what was the fifth terrorist attack in the country over the past six months.

Previous attacks in London this year at Westminster Bridge, London Bridge and Finsbury Park as well as a blast at a concert in Manchester killed dozens of people and injured more than 150.
