LONDON, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- Dermot O'Leary, one of the best known faces on British television as host of the talent show the X Factor, revealed Sunday a new role.

The radio and television personality announced he had become an ambassador for the international conservation charity, ZSL, which runs London Zoo and as well as projects in more than 50 countries.

O'Leary announced his new role at the zoo as he celebrated the launch of his new children's book "Toto the Ninja Cat and the Great Snake Escape".

The book, which is set in and around ZSL London Zoo, including the Reptile House, is the first to be penned by the TV and radio presenter.

Dermot O'Leary said: "I've been a huge fan of London Zoo for a long time, and I'm so proud to work closely with them to highlight the brilliant work they do to protect wildlife in so many ways."

He posed for a photograph with two of the zoo's residents, giant tortoises, but whether the giant shelled-reptiles have talent is a matter for the judges.
