BERLIN, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- Voter turnout of Germany's national election to pick a new parliament stood at 41.1 percent by 2 p.m. local time (1200 GMT), 0.3 percentage point lower than in 2013, the Federal Returning Officer said Sunday.
This figure does not include the votes by post. The Federal Returning Officer calls on eligible voters to cast their ballots. More than 61 million German citizens are eligible for the federal election on Sunday.
The polling stations will be closed at 6:00 p.m. (1600 GMT).
