TBILISI, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- The Croatian women's volleyball team achieved their first victory in EuroVolley Group B after beating hosts Georgia 3-1 on Saturday.
Croatia jumped to a 4-0 lead as Georgia called a timeout, and patiently widened their advantage to 24-11 before Cutuk finished it with a spike at 25-12.
Croatia did not slow down in the second set, quickly turning the score into a 10-point lead and finished it at 25-13.
Georgia bounced back in the third set, opening with a 4-1 lead. The hosts seemed to have found new motivation and took one set back at 25-23.
A balanced battle in the fourth set saw the two sides fight point by point. Croatia had the first match point at 24-22 and Barun converted the second with an attack off the block for 25-23.
The win added three points to Croatia after they lost to Belarus on Friday and put them closer to claiming a spot in the next phase of the EuroVolley in Baku.
