LAGOS, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- Two Nigerian soldiers who were kidnapped by suspected Niger Delta militants on Monday were rescued by joint military force on Friday, a military spokesperson said.
Four other civilians were also rescued during a military operation, Major Ibrahim Abdullahi, a spokesman of the joint force, told reporters in Yenagoa, the oil-rich Bayelsa state capital.
He said troops' superior firepower led to casualties on the side of suspected kidnappers while others escaped with various degrees of gunshot wounds into an adjoining forest.
Abdullahi said items discovered in the camp and shrines included three pump action guns, eight empty cartridges a human skull and some bones. Enditem
