BRUSSELS, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- Eight people were arrested for alleged involvement in people smuggling at airports, the European Border and Coast Guard Agency, or Frontex, said on Friday.
According to a statement of the agency, it has led an international operation to combat transnational crime at the airports.
The action took place this month at 39 European airports in and outside the European Union.
As a result, eight people suspected of involvement in illegal immigration and supply of false documents were arrested.
The operation was coordinated by Frontex and German authorities.
