HANGZHOU, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- More than 30 libraries from China and Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC) formed a consortium on Friday in Hangzhou, capital of east China's Zhejiang Province.
Initiated by Hangzhou Public Library, the consortium has attracted members from ten countries including Croatia, Hungary, Macedonia and Poland.
"Books are a bridge connecting civilizations," said Chu Shuqing, the curator of Hangzhou Public Library. "It is significant that people around the world share histories and cultures through books in libraries."
Yulia Tsinzova, the curator of Sofia city library in Bulgaria, said the consortium would be proactive in resource sharing, cultural exchange and cooperation.
The third ministerial forum on cultural cooperation between China and CEEC is being held in Hangzhou.
China and CEEC have issued a manifesto on cultural cooperation through exchange, forums and research programs.
