BOGOTA, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) -- Colombian authorities said on Wednesday a man had been arrested after threatened to blow himself up in a bank at the Plaza Imperial commercial center in the Suba district of Bogota.
The man was demanding money from a cashier but no explosives were found on him later.
The commercial center said in a statement that this incident was separate from an evacuation which happened on Wednesday morning, in which 3,000 people evacuated the mall after hearing an explosion.
According to General Hoover Penilla, commander of the Bogota police, this explosion was due to a small explosive device which went off in a dustbin outside the mall, without causing any damage.
A person entered Banco Davivienda speaking about having explosives. A call was made to the police and a police bomb squad was called in and control the situation in an hour.
The police reported that the suspect had no explosives on him and had said he urgently needed money. He is being held for a mental health exam.
