GENEVA, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) -- The World Economic Forum (WEF) said Wednesday that its 2018 annual meeting, from Jan 23-26 in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland, will convene under the theme of "Strengthening Cooperation in a Fractured World".
"Our collective inability to secure inclusive growth and preserve our scarce resources puts multiple global systems at risk simultaneously," said Klaus Schwab, WEF founder and executive chairman.
The first goal must be to develop new models for cooperation not based on "narrow interests but on the destiny of humanity as a whole," he said.
WEF said in a statement that it will bring together more than 2,500 leaders from business, government, international organizations, civil society, academia, media and the arts.
It said the aim of the meeting will be to set an agenda that drives greater multi-stakeholder collaboration to address the current political, economic and societal challenges.
It noted that the current global context has changed dramatically with "geostrategic fractures" re-emerging on many fronts.
"With over 400 sessions, the program is an unparalleled effort to engage leaders in a new shared narrative to improve the state of the world," said the WEF.
