PHNOM PENH, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) -- Senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official Liu Yunshan met here on Wednesday with Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen, and they agreed to cement bilateral cooperation and party-to-party exchanges.

China always regards Cambodia as a priority in its diplomacy with neighboring countries, said Liu, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, who is on an official visit to the country.

Liu said the two countries, treating each other as a good neighbor, friend, brother and partner, have scored fruitful cooperation in all fields since China and Cambodia established diplomatic ties 59 years ago.

China will work with Cambodia to implement the important consensus reached by Chinese President Xi Jinping and Hun Sen, and to consolidate mutual political trust and comprehensively deepen strategic cooperation, said Liu.

The ties between the CPC and the ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP), whose president is Hun Sen, play a leading role in state-to-state ties, said Liu, expecting the two parties to maintain high-level contacts, learn from each other on party ruling and state governance, and deepen exchanges in all areas, so as to drive the party-to-party ties to a new high.

Hun Sen, for his part, thanked Liu for leading the CPC delegation to visit Cambodia ahead of the 19th CPC National Congress, saying the tour showed China's great attention to the development of Cambodia-China relations, and he wished the 19th CPC National Congress a success.

Cambodia will work with China to push forward bilateral comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to accomplish more development, while maintaining mutual support on issues of each other's grave concerns, said Hun Sen.

He called for more pragmatic cooperation in economy, trade, development, people's livelihood and big projects, and closer communication and coordination in international and regional affairs.

The CPP will work with the CPC to promote the party-to-party ties to develop at a high level, said Hun Sen, expressing the will to maintain firm support to China on issues relating to China's core interests.

The two leaders attended the signing ceremony of cooperative documents between the two countries after the meeting.
